Vocational training as a law associate

How would you like an exciting and varied profession where you help lawyers to successfully provide advice to companies in legal matters? During this time you will develop into a qualified specialist whose work is enormously important and also a lot of fun. You have a degree from a vocational school for business and administration or a university entrance qualification with good grades in German, maths and English? 1 Varied vocational training with many tasks

During your vocational training, theory and practice complement each other perfectly. On two days a week you will learn the professional basics at vocational school and on three days your experienced colleagues will teach you a lot of practical know-how. This will give you an excellent professional foundation with which you can achieve a lot!

BKS Rechtsanwälte is an established law firm specialising in the following areas of law:

  • Tax planning advice incl. M&A
    The foundation of partnerships and limited liability companies as well as the restructuring of companies and corporate transactions (M&A) are complex projects which we support in terms of tax and company law.
  • Inheritance tax structuring and succession advice
    Tax aspects play a central role in the transfer of one's own assets to the next generation. We show our clients the best possibilities.
  • Advice on criminal tax law
    If our clients are accused of tax evasion, we defend them against the tax investigation and prosecution authorities. In addition, our preventive advice helps to forestall such accusations (e.g. by filing a voluntary tax return) or to avoid them.  

Don't be put off if you don't immediately understand what is exactly involved in these areas, you will learn that quickly. Learning by doing is also the best way to familiarise yourself with the diverse tasks of a law associate.

That is why you will support our lawyers already during your vocational training with the many different tasks in legal assistant work:

  • Preparation of documents, drafts of contracts and presentations
  • Electronic file management and deadline monitoring
  • Typing up dictations on the computer
  • Correctly billing fees
  • Coordinating meetings and court dates
  • Telephoning with clients

Not to worry, of course, you will always be supported by colleagues who already have experience and are happy to help. They will show you step by step how to work professionally as a legal assistant using the most modern office communication systems.

Your vocational training lasts three years. It includes an intermediate exam after one year and a final exam after three years. You can take the latter earlier if you do particularly well.

Of course, there are also the experienced law associates to help you. You will share an office with two of them so you can learn a lot from them and ask them your questions directly. You needn’t hold back, because the more you ask, the more you learn about your chosen profession.

By the way, at Stückmann we are completely modern and digitally equipped in order to be able to work flexibly - digging through files is a thing of the past. For you, this means, for example, that you get an iPhone and an iPad from us, which you can also use at vocational school and for private purposes.

3 You can rely on our support

Vocational training is usually the start of a career and first of all, you have to find your way around. At Stückmann we will help you in many ways. We have a lot of confidence in you at the same time so we will involve you in numerous tasks right away. In this way you will be challenged early on according to your abilities, but you will at no time be left to cope on your own.

To make you feel welcome right away and help you settle in quickly, we will welcome you and your fellow trainees with an introductory day. In the subsequent onboarding events, you will get to know the main areas and structures of our company step by step.

Because many things will still be very new for you at the beginning of your vocational training, we want to be close to you. That's why your vocational trainer and a representative of the human resources department will meet with you after a short time to do an initial "stocktaking": Have you settled in? Is everything as you imagined it beforehand? Is there anything we can improve? These are just a few of the many important questions that interest us. During your vocational training, we will meet several times to discuss the status of your training and your wishes.

In addition to these discussions, regular exchanges with other trainees in the company are also important. That's why we promote these contacts, for example, with joint lunches or the annual trainee day, which can be freely designed and organised.

And the more often you exchange ideas with colleagues in "hallway conversations", the more clearly you will feel the togetherness that makes Stückmann so special.

With additional internal training and education offers (e.g. specialist seminars, Office training or English language training in small groups) as well as special trainee offers (e.g. telephone training), you can specifically improve and further develop your skills. Of course, we sponsor these courses as well as all the learning materials you need and the preparatory courses for your intermediate and final exams, so that you can start with a good feeling.

As you can see, even though we are one of the largest law firms in the region with over 200 members of staff, you can be sure that you will not be overlooked as a trainee, but that we will support and encourage you individually during your vocational training.

 

4 What about after your vocational training? We want you to stay with us!

Vocational training often goes by faster than you think. Then the next decision has to be made - what do you want to do next? It's simple - stay with us!

Our goal is to take on trainees directly after their vocational training. This is a win-win situation for both sides. After their final exam, trainees can continue to develop in the setting they are already familiar with and take on more and more responsibility for their tasks as they gain experience.

In addition, we can rely on our clients being looked after by staff who know exactly what is important at Stückmann.
