HLB Cup Budapest 2023
On 23 September, a delegation from our office took part in the international football tournament of the HLB network in Budapest. The sporting performance was much better than that of the DFB team at the last big tournaments.

We went through the qualifying round unbeaten and without conceding a goal, winning 4-0 against Slovakia, 3-0 against Belgium and 1-0 against Hungary and Italy respectively. These results were made possible by a good team performance and our outstanding goalkeeper Charlotte Schröder.
In the quarter-finals we beat Spain 1-0.
Unfortunately, we lost the semi-final to Italy 2-1 after a close and hard-fought match. In the penalty shootout against Denmark we were a bit unlucky and returned to #Bielefeld with a good fourth place out of 14 participating teams.
Our team received excellent support from Karin Korte and her husband, who were in Budapest for an HLB forum.
In addition to the great organisation, the very open and friendly reception by our Hungarian hosts and the interesting table discussions, the team will also remember the friendly, respectful, helpful and relaxed interaction with each other.
An all round successful event - we are already looking forward to next year!
